After thinking long about a kick mechanism for our robot, we reached the conclusion that we couldn’t use the supplied parts in the kit of parts to complete the system.
We planned and then sketched a custom gear box to answer the needs raised by our team.
The result of our hard work displayed on the next video clip:

Last Day’s problems…

As usual, nothing goes right on the last day of build season.

We were hoping to have a chance of trying out our bot today, however at 4 am our cRio was totaled. Lacking a Zaviezo to help us, our lord and saviour Yaron brought us a new one from Miscar, and took care of the old one.

Safety Tips

If you’re working with power tools, you MUST wear safety goggles and safety gloves!
Do NOT leave nails or sharp parts on the floor.
Always wear closed shoes in our working area.
If you have long hair, while working remember to pull your hair up.
If there is a broken or not working tool, DO NOT use it.
While working with electronics, the working area should be free of Aluminum chips and Liquids.
Always listen to your coach and safety captain.
There must be verbal coordination between the group members, while working on the robot.
Think twice before you DO!!

Let’s hope that we will be able to complete a full inspection of our Robot by the end of tomorrow, considering the fact that parts of the robot will connect at the pit at the competition. Don’t forget to bring the inspection forms tomorrow! (Check your e-mails).

We have just submitted our essay as we are running for the Woodie Flowers Award in the Israel Regional Competition. We have completed the essay about our mentor Baruch Bakalo that has truly enlightened and bonded with each team member.

Robot Ship Date:

After an in depth exploration of the options and careful consideration of the potential impact, the Director of FRC with the advice of the GDC decided that although Robot Ship Day must remain February 23rd this year, all FRC teams will be allowed to hold back up to 65 pounds of their robot’s weight and may continue to work on that portion of the robot up until their first event. Near the end – Construction period of Breakaway 2010

The past 6 weeks where an amazing experience. We have learned a lot and enjoyed every second.
From selecting our game strategy, through mechanical design, programming and electronics, we have developed both as a team and individually.
Right now our robot is being assembled and tested, and electronics are wired. The tension is high as shipping day is just a blink away but we are optimistic and hope to get a chance of trying out the robot and solving any problems that might pop up.
And after all this hard work, it’s worth it!!

We have got a couple of tough weeks coming up with the stress of Robot Shipment Day that is coming near, Award Submission Day this week and the exam period at school. Although every minute spent in our lab should be dedicated to our robot let’s not forget to help each other out by studying during any free time.
